Gili Stolarski

I am a PhD student in the Department of Learning Disabilities.
My research, supervised by Prof. Anat Prior and Prof. Tami Katzir, focuses on the relationship between bilingualism, reading self-concept, and teacher-student relationships.

This study is part of a broader longitudinal project conducted at the Safra Center within the Department of Learning Disabilities, which examines the development of reading, writing, and mathematics from preschool through sixth grade.
My specific study focuses on children in third and fourth grade, during the transition from vowelized to unvowelized Hebrew reading. It explores the relationships between reading self-concept, literacy-related reading skills, and teacher-student relationships among bilingual and monolingual children.
The research examines differences between monolingual and bilingual learners and investigates whether a positive and supportive teacher-student relationship may reduce negative emotions associated with reading.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree and a teaching certificate in Civics and Social-Community Education from Oranim College, as well as a Master’s degree from the Department of Learning Disabilities at the University of Haifa, in the Brain and Learning track. My MA thesis was supervised by Prof. Tami Katzir.
